Persistent Cookie - Effective January 11, 2010

For your increased security, Banner Bank will require acceptance of a persistent cookie when accessing your account information.  Please ensure that your browser settings accept persistent cookies.

  • The Use of Cookies in Banner Bank's Online Banking - A cookie is a small text file containing a unique identification number that a website sends to your computer's web browser. While you visit a particular site, a cookie may be used to track the activities of your browser as well as provide you with a consistent, more efficient experience. There are two common types of cookies: persistent and non-persistent.

The “help” portion of the toolbar of most browsers will tell you how to set your browser to accept new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether. Be aware, if you disable cookies on your browser you will not be able to log into Banner Bank Online Banking.

  • Persistent Cookies - The persistent cookie is a unique cookie that does not change between user sessions, commonly used to save preferences of a user to ease navigation. Online Banking uses it for positive device tagging—to recognize the computer that is logging into the system. This way the user and the cookie are associated with a profile. As long as the user is coming from the same cookie, then the system is more trusted. The cookie is an encrypted value that is created by our Online Banking system. The value includes several things that cannot be disclosed due to security implications. Online Banking cookies are encrypted to ensure that data can't be captured from the cookie by an unauthorized source.

Internet Browser - Effective Monday, January 25, 2010

Online Banking will no longer allow access using Internet Explorer versions older than version 6.0. This change is being made in an effort to help protect our customers as recommended by Microsoft who will no longer be supporting these versions with security updates. To maintain Online Banking access, please review the list of Supported Internet Browsers and follow the installation instruction as necessary.

Additionally, beginning August 23, 2010, the same change will be made for Internet Explorer versions older than version 7.0.
