Building up Others One Nail at a Time
While we’re not skilled carpenters, we aren’t afraid of hard work when it comes to building up our communities. Our employees showcase their creative side and learn carpentry skills, all in the name of helping others. For example, teaming up with Habitat for Humanity, we helped build homes in San Gabriel, California, and Spokane, Washington—projects that have become annual events for our team. Habitat’s goal of empowering families and facilitating safe, affordable housing meshes with our mission of giving back to the communities in which we live.
In Southern Oregon’s Jackson and Josephine counties, we hosted an all-day event at one of our branches to build two dozen bunk beds for children who don’t have a bed in their home. Fueled by the compassion to help others, our employees proved to be quick learners in constructing bunk beds.
“It was incredible to see so many people from our Banner team rally around this important and worthwhile cause,” said Monica Clayton, Retail Division Manager in Southern Oregon. “We’re so happy we could make a difference and help enrich children’s lives.”
