Giving Back to Our Community
At Banner, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live and work. Learn more about a few of the recent events we sponsored and see how your organization can request support.
Being actively involved with Habitat for Humanity is just one of many ways we live our commitment to the development of affordable, sustainable housing and strong communities.
Banner buddies with community organizations to fight hunger
Last fall, we collected 22,625 packaged food items and $25,812 in cash across our service area, thanks to clients, employees and friends. Other ways we fight hunger include:
- Crush Hunger Food Truck Event fundraiser for Northwest Harvest in Spokane, Wash.
- Five garden carts to harvest produce and 24 fruit saplings for the Josephine County (Oregon) Food Bank, which works with 23 agencies to help feed 11,000 individuals a month.
Hitting the tracks and trails for the American Cancer Society
Tennis shoes on and enthusiasm high, Banner employees in Washington, Oregon and California took part in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in their communities.
The team fundraising event consists of a series of individual six- to 24-hour relays at a track or designated path. During the relay, each team must have a member walking or running the track at all times, signifying that cancer never sleeps.
In Washington, fans of the Yakima Pippins (named for the tasty apple) and the Walla Walla Sweets (after the famous onion) enjoyed discounts on tickets, food and merchandise at home games using our team-branded Mastercard®. Another team we sponsor in the state’s sun-soaked fruit belt are the Wenatchee AppleSox.
On the state’s eastern edge the Spokane Indians, played exciting ball, and ticket package holders enjoyed refreshments in the Banner Bank Diamond Club behind home plate.
